Project Management

The success of any project begins and ends with exceptional Project Management. In particular, our belief is that both technical and administrative leadership qualities are equally important to the success of a project manager. Our managers have extensive experience in multiple engineering fields and are well versed in the flawless execution of project. Planning, monitoring, and adjusting to changes are instrumental in controlling our ability to deliver on-time and within budget.

Our management group provides complete transparency in all aspects of the project life cycle, working with our clients to meet safety, cost, quality, schedule, communication, and engineering objectives. Throughout the execution of a project, our management personnel maintain focus on the entire project scope in the best interest of our customer’s objectives. We continuously monitor and contribute to every phase of a project from engineering to commissioning, and provide solutions that are often not solely focused on the electrical/controls discipline.

On numerous occasions our personnel have been hired to manage projects on behalf of our customers. This has involved various scenarios where our customer has either run out of resources within their own organizations or do not have employees that can manage the complex nature of a demanding project. We have been responsible for managing everything from twenty-five System Integrators on a brand new manufacturing facilities site to managing multi-year machine build projects on behalf of our customer at an OEM facility.

PROCESS & INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING

A well-engineered control system is our key to guaranteeing maximum uptime and long-term reliability of your production system. Our design process starts with gathering mission critical information relative to your production equipment and manufacturing requirements. The evolution of our step by step design process continues with a preliminary design and review of P&IDs and control strategies. Once your control system basis of design is finalized, we will focus on the control system platform, instrumentation selections, and tagging databases for mechanical and electrical components. Additional risk assessments and logic reviews are conducted to incorporate any interlocks and alarming required. Odyssey’s engineered solutions are customized to satisfy all aspects of process, safety, and maintenance requirements.

Our engineers have been utilized by several customers to provide subject matter expertise in the field of instrumentation and controls. These roles have largely been associated with project team leadership or area (system) lead positions and involve all facets of a project from preliminary engineering to system turnover to production. These have generally been large multi-year projects where flawless integration efforts across multiple sub-systems are critical to meeting desired equipment manufacturing specifications.

SCADA & HMI DEVELOPMENT

A well-designed SCADA/HMI system and network architecture gives our clients a competitive advantage by allowing them to analyze reliable data faster, monitor quality, react to potential problems in a proactive manner, and reduce downtime – ultimately resulting in cost savings and consistent high-quality production. We understand the importance of your process and equipment data from many different perspectives:

  • Production floor operators
  • Maintenance personnel
  • Engineering support
  • Data management
  • Board room executives

Our SCADA/HMI designs and configurations take into account considerations made for each discipline of your organization. Initial design interviews are conducted with key customer project team members to harvest the voice of the customer and determine what considerations need to be made to develop the optimal interface solution for the client.

Odyssey engineers specialize in utilizing market leading SCADA/HMI hardware and software solutions. The majority of our work has been

CUSTOM CONTROL PANEL DESIGN AND ASSEMBLY

Our control panel projects have included everything from hard-wired panel enclosures with simple push button/relay-based controls to far more intricate redundant PLCs connected to remote I/O panels. Our panels are designed and built to meet the highest industry standards, including NEMA, UL508, and NEC. Each assembled enclosure undergoes thorough quality checks, and simulation testing prior to delivery and installation.

INSTALLATION, START-UP, & COMMISSIONING

Our highly qualified OSHA certified staff will safely oversee all aspects of the installation, and are an integral part of the commissioning effort. Pre-functional inspections, I/O Checkout, Loop Checkout, Sequence Testing, and customer site acceptance testing of the completed installation are integral components of the Odyssey commissioning program.

The completed installation is documented in our project closeout documentation in the form of as-built drawings, customized operations and maintenance manuals, and OEM manuals for all purchased equipment and devices. On-site training sessions are offered to maintenance and operations teams, ensuring that all operating procedures are transferred from the commissioning team to the production floor.
